New Year News

Hello League Members & Friends:

It was only a little more than a year ago that we took the gigantic step of expanding our League territory from one county to five counties in our South Central Texas area. That change meant recongifuring our leadership team, finding creative ways to introduce our League to new people in our new counties, and serving more voters with Voters Guides and VOTE411. Thank you, thank you, thank you to so many of you who have supported the League by becoming members, offering encouragement, and helping to put out a welcome mat for us!

We are now gearing up for the next big steps as we grow our League into the resource we envision for South Central Texas. Please help us by volunteering where your interests connect, joining us if you are not already a member, staying with us if you are already a member, and mentioning us to friends and family.  In my experience, we - and our communities - are so strong and joyful when we work together!

With gratitutde for new friendships, and the meaningful work we are doing together!

Janis Richardson
LWV of South Central Texas President

Adopt-a- Highway Cleanup
January 9, 8:00 - 9:30 am

Our next adopt-a-highway clean-up is scheduled for January 9 - this coming Monday! This clean-up helps us meet the commitment we made when our League joined 3,400 other participating organizations in the Texas Department of Transportation's Adopt-a-Highway Program.

We're meeting at 8:00 am on Monday morning in the parking lot of the Fayette County Precinct 4 Road and Bridge facility at 1801 W Hwy 90 near the Schulenburg city limits. Please join us! All you need to do is show up - wearing a long-sleeved shirt, full-length pants, and closed-toed shoes. We will provide water (bring your water bottle), instructions, a map, sunscreen, bug spray, reflective vests, and collection bags.

For more information, contact Jaci Elliott, our Adopt-a-Highway Coordinator, at 713-823-1891.
