Subject: League Update: Busy Fall Ahead!
From: Janis Richardson/LWV South Central Texas

Hi League Friends - We are gearing up for a busy fall, with the big election coming up and November, our Women Making History program moving to a new level, and our new Local News & Democracy initiative beginning to grow legs.

Check out what is coming up and where you want to volunteer. We have a new volunteer sign up page on our website to make volunteering easy.  If you've forgotten your username and password to sign in, there's a reset option on the sign in page - or you text me (361-772-3228) and I'll help you get in.

I hope to see you at Sunday's Women's Equality Day presentation of Press On, My Sisters, our League's original reader's theater play on women's fight for equality. Bring a friend!

Janis Richardson

LWV of the United States, our national League, is offering weekly election rumors briefings between now and the November 5th election. All League members are welcome to attend.

Students Learn About Voting
Many thanks to Rebecka LaCourse (Colorado County Election Administrator) and Terri Hefner (Fayette County Election Administrator) for making it possible for students to get hands-on experience with voting at the Summer Bridge to Success program at Columbus High School and Blinn College in Schulenburg this July. And, many thanks to BRIDGE and ACCSS, the program's sponsors, for inviting the League to host this workshhop on voting.

Hefner and LaCourse brought voting machines equipped with mock election software to the workshops so that students could experience what it's like to go to the polls on election day and cast their vote. This was a great way to take the mystery out of voting for future voters!

Many thanks as well to the League members and other volunteers who were present to help students with the process!
