Welcome to our League Book Group!

As our League grows, we are discovering that those who are attracted to the League's mission and vision are also readers.  And, we are readers who enjoy other readers!

What are we reading? We read what captures our imagination and is fodder for good discussion. Check out the books that we have read, and the book that we have chosen for next time. Participation is open to members and friends. We promise a good community, interesting discussion, and a judgement free zone even if you didn't get all the way through the book we're discussing.

The Book Group meets every odd month (January, March, May, July, September and November) via Zoom to discuss a book.  In the months in between Book Group zoom calls we meet face to face for some social time.  Look back here to find out where we will be meeting up!

Let us know you are interested in the Book Group by adding your name to the Book Group on the Interests page

Just Mercy: A Story of Justice & Redemption by Brian Stevenson
Just Mercy
Our Next Book: Just Mercy: A Story of Justice & Redemption by Bryan Stevenson

Bryan Stevenson was a young lawyer when he founded the Equal Justice Initiative, a legal practice dedicated to defending those most desperate and in need: the poor, the wrongly condemned, and women and children trapped in the farthest reaches of our criminal justice system. One of his first cases was that of Walter McMillian, a young man who was sentenced to die for a notorious murder he insisted he didn’t commit. The case drew Bryan into a tangle of conspiracy, political machination, and legal brinksmanship—and transformed his understanding of mercy and justice forever.

Just Mercy is at once an unforgettable account of an idealistic, gifted young lawyer’s coming of age, a moving window into the lives of those he has defended, and an inspiring argument for compassion in the pursuit of true justice.
