Unite and Rise 8.5 Day of Action
On August 8, 2026, join the League of Women Voters of the United States, local and state Leagues, and our partners as we host a nationwide day of civic action in honor of the anniversary of the
Voting Rights Act of 1965.
Leagues and partners will lead hundreds of activations across the country centered on increasing voter engagement, turnout, and education, with particular emphasis on young voters and community partnerships.
The run-up to the nationwide Day of Action begins with a virtual National Pep Rally at 2 pm Central Time on August 6, bringing together League leaders, voting rights advocates, entertainers, and grassroots organizers. Together, they will celebrate and remind attendees of the power of collective action and equip them with the tools to mobilize their communities. Livestreamed at
lwv.org/riseforvotingrights, the event will underscore that protecting democracy requires sustained civic participation—not just on Election Day, but every day.
Led by the League, the August 8 Unite & Rise for Voting Rights Day of Action is powered by a broad coalition of organizations committed to protecting democracy and expanding civic participation. National partners include American Association of University Women, American Booksellers Association, Black Voters Matter, Common Cause, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc., Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, LULAC, Mi Familia Vota, National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., National Council of Jewish Women, Public Citizen, Register Her, She Should Run, Third Act, Voto Latino, and YWCA USA.
